Global Leaf Tanzania Limited (GLT) is the registered Company dealing in buying and selling Tobacco inside and outside the Country. GLT registered in September, 2023 and operates in Tanzania under main Four regions Shinyanga, Mbeya, Mara and Tabora. VACANCY 01.

Job Title: Leaf Operation Manager

Department: Operation Department

Reports to: General Manager

Job Summary

The Leaf Operations Manager, reporting to the Leaf General Manager, is the head of the leaf division charged with the responsibility of overseeing, coordinating, and budgetary control of the operations of the leaf division in order to achieve the set quality and volume targets.

Job Descriptions

  1. In charge of Leaf growing to meet the targeted volumes for the designated leaf division.
  2. Engage in budget monitoring for the respective division through devising and proposing cost effective methods/ solutions for adoption and implementation.
  3. Supervision of all the employees / staff under the leaf operations area to implement recommendations, as well as to boost the quality of tobacco growing.
  4. Planning, coordinating, and supervising all the leaf buying operations during the marketing season.
  5. Carry out evaluation and reviews of the annual (crop year) division operational plans against the set general leaf plan.
  6. Provide advice to the Leaf General Manager on the performance of the division in relation to the set strategies for decision making.
  7. Through the division Leaf Accountant, evaluate the performance of the approved division’s agronomy financial budgets against the actual.
  8. Evaluate the quality and yield of the crop production and provide continuous operational expertise and guidance to their team for improvements.
  9. Responsible for the monitoring of compliance and assess the development of the agronomy field staff and farmers in compliance with all relevant agronomy SOPs.
  10. Monitoring and evaluation of all the GAP (good agricultural practices) and recommending remedial actions if required in line with acceptable modified execution plans and methodologies.
  11. Compile monthly reports for all the sub zones for submission to Leaf General Manager.
  12. Manage the division’s database to reflect the accurate number of farmers, seedbed costs, inputs, wood fuel distribution, etc.
  13. Perform all other duties as and when assigned by the management.

Requirements.

  1. Degree in Agriculture, Environment, Natural Sciences, or any other related qualification.
  2. At least 6 to 8 years’ experience in tobacco growing and production.
  3. Quick ability to analyze and solve related problems as and when they arise.
  4. Ability to make accurate decisions.
  5. Team leadership, possession of great interpersonal skills and result orientated.
  6. Computer literacy and ability to manage and control the budgets.

VACANCY 02.

Job Title: Area Leaf Manager

Department: Operation Department Reports To: Leaf Operation Manager

Job Summary

Area Leaf Manager will co-ordinate and manage all operations in the growing region to ensure the Company meet the production target required by supervising Leaf technicians on their dayto-day activities. Also responsible to provide information time to time reports to the management on potential tobacco production movement.

Job Description

  1. Timely prepare, and implement and continuously monitor a crop action plan for the production of the agreed quality, quantity and cost of tobacco leaf.
  2. Timely evaluate and communicate the progress on the approved action plan and leaf Centre objectives to enable timely, effective and efficient decision making.
  3. Provide professional & technical coaching and assistance to the extension personnel and farmers to enable them grow high quality and quantity of tobacco at optimize returns.
  4. Continuously evaluate competitor activity and put in place counter measures to maintain competitive advantage.
  5. Disseminate as appropriate company policy on Growing Tobacco to farmers and the community for good corporate image.
  6. Implement, coach and ensure compliance by all direct and indirect reports on all company guidelines and policies.
  7. Timely plan, forecast & communicate materials & supplies (M&S) requirement for the leaf centre.
  8. Identify, evaluate & manage business risks within the leaf growing region implementing short and long-term management measures.
  9. Maintain on an on-going basis, good relations with all local stakeholders and community, local and national government departments and also business fraternity.
  10. Direct and co-ordinate leaf purchases, to ensure that leaf buying is carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
  11. Effectively manage loan issued to farmers to ensure crop quality and quantity objectives are met while minimizing risk.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness or Horticulture or any related field
  2. Self-drive and high integrity
  3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field with ability to demonstrate practical competence knowledge in leaf grading capabilities.
  4. Good knowledge of tobacco agronomy and postharvest activities including curing, sorting, grading and baling.
  5. Ability to relate physical characteristics of tobacco leaf to quality.

VACANCY 03.

Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Department: Finance Department

Reports To: Finance Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Accountant keeps financial records, prepares reports, and updates financial information. The Assistant Accountant is also required to be familiar with accounting procedures and should have experience with accounting software programs (TALLY). The job holder would be able to process business transactions, handle accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, receipts, and other financial matters.  

Job Description

  1. Keeping financial records up to date
  2. Processing business transactions
  3. Handling bookkeeping and following accounting best practices
  4. Fact-checking invoices for payment and processing
  5. Maintaining sales ledger and general ledger
  6. Preparing, fulfilling, and distributing employee checks
  7. Preparing payment vouchers for approval and payments
  8. Monitoring vendor statements, wire transfer requests, and other transactions
  9. Assisting the Finance Manager with audits, forecasts, and other fiscal planning
  10. Posting customer checks, vendor payments
  11. Reconciling account balances
  12. Processing billing adjustments and refunds

Requirements: –

  1. Bachelor degree in accounting and any other related field.
  2. CPA is an added advantage.
  3. At least 1-3 years of experience in a similar position/function.
  4. Preference to experience within the manufacturing industry.
  5. ERP – Tally Software, Computer skills, Microsoft Office & Internet.
  6. Data entry & General math skills and willing & able to handle a variety of tasks.

Job Title: Logistic Assistant

Department: Logistic &Procurement

Reports To: Logistic Manager

Job Summary.

Under supervision of Logistic officer, will be responsible for proper executing of logistic activities of the Company, including stock data management both in the system and in the documents.

Job Description.

  1. Preparing and communicating with Transport Company for transporting tobacco from market to warehouse, after buying and during central market.
  2. Ensuring all transport records are well captured both in the system and physical documents.
  3. Supervising and reporting all activities at the warehouse.
  4. Ensuring all information to be captured in the system are correctly captured, and communicating/reporting for any challenge associated with.
  5. Communicating with market clerks and resolving issues about the system.
  6. Receiving daily report from market clerks on their activities of the day.
  7. Ensure proper arrangements of tobacco stock at the warehouses.
  8. Manage and keep record of inventory movements, at the office store and at the warehouse.
  9. Supervise loading and offloading of delivery and distribution trucks.
  10. Receive commodities and/or items in good condition, Count and record the goods received with appropriate documentation.
  11. Update warehouse operation data into the system.
  12. Ensure proper warehousing of the goods received by type, shipment, expiry data
  13. Keep the warehouse neat and clean; ensure pest control is in place and is on a regular basis.
  14. Ensure proper stock inventory management and documentations.
  15. Check and maintain Store security measures, e.g. locks, windows.
  16. Report to the line manager and security focal point in case of problems.
  17. Any other assignment by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of Diploma in Logistic, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business/Public

Administration or any related field.

Job Title: Leaf Technician

Department: Leaf

Reports To: Area Leaf Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Leaf Technician to support field-level operations related to tobacco production, procurement, and quality monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with farmers and internal teams to ensure high-quality leaf production aligned with company standards and agricultural best practices.

Job Descriptions.

  1. Provide technical assistance and agronomic guidance to contracted tobacco growers.
  2. Monitor crop performance, pest and disease incidence, and ensure timely intervention.
  3. Conduct regular field visits to assess compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and sustainability standards.
  4. Assist in the classification, grading, and documentation of harvested tobacco leaf.
  5. Support the Area Leaf Manager in planning and executing buying programs and logistical arrangements.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on farmer performance, field visits, and crop progress.
  7. Participate in grower training sessions, field demonstrations, and community engagement activities.
  8. Report on leaf quality, production challenges, and farmer compliance in the assigned area.
  9. Ensure safety and hygiene practices are adhered to during all field operations.

Requirements:

  1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in tobacco or commercial crop production.
  3. Good understanding of tobacco agronomy, crop cycles, and field operations.
  4. Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with rural communities.
  5. Ability to work independently and travel regularly to rural areas.
  6. Familiar with basic computer applications and data entry (MS Office or mobile data tools).
  7. Valid driver’s or motorcycle license (as required for field mobility).

Job Title: Administration Assistant Officer

The Administration Assistant Officer is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of office activities. The role supports day-to-day operations, including document management, office coordination, logistics, and support to other departments, contributing to efficient and professional workplace standards.

Job Descriptions.

  1. Assist with the coordination of office activities and administrative functions.
  2. Maintain and update physical and digital filing systems, records, and documents.
  3. Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, letters, and packages.
