Background and project description

Breakthrough ACTION Tanzania is an SBC project designed to provide technical assistance to the Government of Tanzania (GoT) to improve the policy and implementation framework around SBC activities. This project will also help design, implement, and monitor specific SBC interventions at the sub-national level when such efforts are required (e.g., infectious disease outbreak). The main goal of the award is to catalyze opportunities for Tanzanians to improve their health status by transforming socio-cultural norms and supporting the adoption of healthier behaviors.

These activities may include content adaptation of USAID Tulonge Afya’s NAWEZA, SITETEREKI integrated SBC platform and Furaha Yangu Campaign SBC materials and interventions, and may include additional interventions identified to supplement the existing. The team will also provide ZAMEP with SBC support in the implementation of ZAMEP’s mini mass campaigns, as well as adapt existing SBC materials to be specific to the targeted areas.
