Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) is a faith-based  educational institution owned and operated by Haven of Peace Trust.

HOPAC was founded in 1994 for children of missionaries and has evolved into a Christian international school with a diverse student population that includes children of missionaries and full-time Christian service workers, children of expats working in the non-profit and for-profit sectors, and children of Tanzanians working in the non-profit, for-profit, and public sectors.

The school is located in Kunduchi at the junction of Salasala Road and Bagamoyo Road in Kinondoni Municipal in Dar es Salaam and is currently inviting applications for vacancies of competent, experienced, and qualified teachers and school personnel.

 Job summary 
Service Learning Coordinator

The Service Learning Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and smooth operation of the Service-Learning Program.

This role manages program logistics, supports teachers, coordinates with community and NGO partners, oversees operational planning for Service Emphasis Week, provides instructional support through peer observations, and contributes to broader student life initiatives as directed by the Head of Service Learning or Secondary Principal.

Swimming Coordinator

Swimming Coordinator is a mid-management role responsible for the operational, academic, and physical management of the aquatics program and facilities at Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC).

This role integrates curriculum execution—including K-12 PE swimming and strategic asset management, and facility upkeep of the pool.

In addition to leading daily aquatic operations, safety protocols, and competitive coaching, the coordinator acts as the project owner for major facility enhancements.

This includes directing aquatic capital plans and managing capital projects valued at $40,000+ (e.g., major pool structural repairs, filtration system overhauls, and facility upgrades) in alignment with HOPAC’s long-term strategic budget.

Ideal candidates for all positions will be self-motivated, team players, adaptable, and willing to learn with experience working in multicultural, international settings, and fluent in English.

HOPAC follows the Cambridge curriculum and is an ACSI/MSA accredited school.

Required qualifications and experience for Service Learning Coordinator

  • Committed evangelical Christian aligned with HOPAC’s ethos.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-year experience in an administrative, programmatic role.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Kiswahili and extensive familiarity with Tanzanian cultural and NGO landscapes required.

Required qualifications and experience for Swimming Coordinator

  • Committed evangelical Christian with a heart for student development and discipleship.
  • Aquatic Facility Certification: Certified pool maintenance credentials showing expertise in filtration and plant room management.
  • Lifeguard & Instructor Credentials: Certified Lifeguard, Lifesaver, and Certified Swimming Trainer/Instructor, for example STA, YMCA, or national equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
  • Budget Experience: Proven experience managing facility budgets, equipment repair cycles, and managing capital works or infrastructure projects exceeding $40,000.
  • Aquatic Management Experience: Demonstrated leadership in managing lifeguards, swim coaches, and community facility schedules.
  • Competitive Coaching: Strong background as a competitive swim coach or athlete.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English.
