Key responsibilities

  • Contribute application development objectives to the overall IT strategy.
  • Collaborate with business units to formulate banking products and provide technical guidance during the procurement process.
  • Analyze product requirements and design and implement scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot, as guided by KCBT policies and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including QA testers, product analysts, and fellow developers, to deliver assigned features.
  • Implement best practices and deploy appropriate tools to manage and govern application development and the IT change process.
  • Actively engage end-users to assess satisfaction and achieve successful project closure.
  • Work with functional teams to hand over system support skills and documentation.
  • Formulate Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) with Level 1 support.
  • Identify and champion innovative solutions that exploit existing business opportunities and mitigate existing risks.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement proactive fixes.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Influence product design.

Daily responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze requests to implement new applications that resolve business challenges and improve process efficiency.
  • Evaluate and analyze requests to modify existing software systems and applications where anomalies have been detected or processes are inefficient.
  • Manage the application development life cycle and ensure adherence to the application development policy.
  • Collaborate with business teams to formulate strategies that use software systems to take advantage of business opportunities.
  • Support banking operations administrators and operators in resolving core banking anomalies and refining operations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on secure coding standards and compliance with banking regulations.

Minimum qualification requirements

Academic and professional qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

  • Specific field or qualification: Any computer-related field
  • Need type: Required (RQ)

Professional qualifications

The following professional qualifications are required:

  • Java certification
  • Oracle certification
  • Enterprise Architecture
  • ITIL
  • Need type: Required (RQ)

Master’s degree

  • Specific field or qualification: Any computer-related field or Project Management
  • Need type: Added advantage (AA)

Qualification need types

Experience requirements

A minimum of five years of total work experience is required.

Emerging technologies

  • At least three years of experience in emerging technologies, such as mobile banking, internet banking, digital loans, and digital savings.

  • Need type: Desirable but not essential (DE)

Banking operations

  • At least three years of experience in banking operations.
