Position: Assistant Production Manager – Crop Maintenance
Reports to: Production Manager
Position Type: Staff Position
Job Location: Arusha, Tanzania

Objective of the Role:

To support the Production Manager in overseeing greenhouse and crop maintenance operations, ensuring optimal crop performance, compliance with company standards, effective labour coordination, and accurate production reporting. The role requires a proactive, hands-on professional who can maintain operational discipline and support continuous improvement within a structured production environment.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate daily crop maintenance and greenhouse operations to ensure consistent plant performance and production efficiency.
2. Coordinate preparation of growing area (greenhouse structure and growing media), and transition activities in line with approved production plans.
3. Monitor crop health and performance, identifying risks and escalating issues in a timely manner.
4. Ensure strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and internal operational protocols at all times.
5. Conduct routine inspections across crop stages and maintain accurate production and performance records.
6. Support labour planning, including duty scheduling, leave planning, and task allocation to ensure continuous operations.
7. Monitor facility condition and report maintenance requirements to relevant departments.
8. Accurately capture production data within internal management systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
2. 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in greenhouse or crop production environments.
3. Strong understanding of controlled-environment crop production principles and hygiene standards.
4. Proven supervisory experience with the ability to coordinate labour effectively and maintain high operational standards.
5. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
6. Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
7. Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office and production data systems.
