Job Description
Position: Exploration Geologist
Location: Tanzania (Field-Based – Gold Project)
Employment Type: Contract (Initial 6 Months – Renewable)
A growing gold exploration and development project in Tanzania is seeking a competent and results-driven Exploration Geologist to oversee and execute a trench sampling program targeting oxidised gold mineralisation.
This role is field-based and requires strong practical experience in structural mapping, trench logging, and gold sampling programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification of oxide, transitional, and sulphide zones
- Geological mapping of trenches and exposed mineralisation
- Structural mapping (strike/dip measurements, shear zones, vein systems)
- Design and supervision of trench sampling programs
- Accurate channel sampling and sample marking
- Implementation of QA/QC procedures (blanks, standards, duplicates)
- Supervision of field assistants and samplers
- Daily field reporting and geological logging
- Compilation of trench logs and assay data
- Preparation of summary technical reports
Minimum Requirements
- BSc Degree in Geology or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in gold exploration
- Proven experience in trench and channel sampling
- Strong understanding of oxidised gold systems
- Experience working in greenstone belt environments preferred
- Knowledge of QA/QC sampling protocols
- Ability to work independently in remote field conditions
- Basic proficiency in geological software (QGIS, Surpac, Leapfrog or similar)
