Position: Field Assistants  – 3 Positions

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a not–for–profit institution that generates agricultural innovations to meet Africa’s most pressing challenges of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and natural resource degradation. Working with various partners across sub–Saharan Africa, we improve livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, increase employment, and preserve natural resource integrity. IITA is a member of CGIAR, a global agriculture research partnership for a secure food future. 

IITA is looking for suitably qualified person to fill the position of Field Assistant, to be based in Mwanza/ Geita, Kagera and Kigoma. 

Responsibilities: 

• Support delivery of the small cassava seed packs to farmers
• Provide agronomic knowledge to the recipient of small cassava seed packs
• Monitoring field performance to provide advice on field management
• Collect data, analysis and report writing
• Perform any other activities as assigned by the coordinator.

Required Qualifications/Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma in Agriculture.
• 5 Years’ field experience
• Working with little or no supervision
• Active engagement skills with rural Communities
• Knowledgeable on cassava production and seed system
• Gender integration skills in rural community activities
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Tools
• Active learning and good writing skills

General information: 

The duration of the contract is 18 months. This is a nationally recruited position and IITA offers a competitive remuneration package.
