
Job Overview
The British High Commission Dar es Salaam is seeking a proactive and analytical Finance Analyst (HEO) to support the effective stewardship of UK public funds across its programme and operational budgets. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the post holder will provide accurate financial analysis, management reporting, and practical business partnering support to budget holders, policy leads, and corporate teams across the mission.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across programme and operational budgets; partner with budget holders to maintain evidence-based forecasts and realistic budget profiles.
Financial Analysis & Management Reporting: Produce timely management information, analyze budget vs. actual movements, and explain material variances, financial risks, pressures, and opportunities.
Financial Integrity & Control: Maintain financial data integrity across FCDO systems; execute month-end, year-end, and in-year processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, budget transfers, and financial housekeeping.
Business Partnering & Advisory: Serve as the first point of contact for financial queries; provide accessible advice, constructive challenge, and ensure value for money (VfM) is integrated into operational and programme decisions.
Capability Building & Continuous Improvement: Support non-finance colleagues in utilizing finance tools and guidelines, strengthen internal controls, and streamline financial reporting processes.
Experience: Hands-on experience in financial management (budgeting, forecasting, accounting, variance analysis) and supporting non-finance budget holders. Experience in public sector, programme, or ODA-funded (Official Development Assistance) financial management is highly desirable.
Accounting Knowledge: Strong foundation in accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and financial reconciliations.
Professional Certification: Working towards, or willing to work towards, a recognized professional finance qualification (CCAB, CIMA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to navigate corporate financial systems quickly.
