Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
The Front Desk Supervisor oversees daily front office operations, ensuring seamless luxury guest arrival/departure experiences and high service standards at the 77-room safari lodge. The position manages shift handovers, coordinates guest services, leads front desk staff, and ensures smooth collaboration between Housekeeping, Reservations, and Engineering.
Front Office Operations: Supervise check-in and check-out procedures, manage shift handovers, monitor lobby areas, and maintain high scores on guest arrival/departure surveys (Qualtrics).
Guest Experience & Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for guest inquiries, resolve complaints, coordinate special requests, and promote lodge facilities (Discovery Centre, F&B outlets, and Spa).
Team Leadership & Training: Coach, mentor, and schedule front office staff, conduct on-the-job training for new hires, and enforce grooming, uniform, and attendance standards.
Property Management & Billing: Maintain accurate guest profiles in the Property Management System (PMS), verify departure bills, conduct cash float audits, and manage revenue controls to prevent billing errors.
Safety & Cross-Departmental Coordination: Partner with Housekeeping and Maintenance for room readiness, adhere to hotel safety/security protocols, and protect guest confidentiality.
Education: Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of front office operational experience, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, or safari lodge environment.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience working with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) and computer applications.
Core Competencies: Excellent leadership, guest relation, and communication skills; strong problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
Legal Requirement: Candidates must already possess legal authorization to work in Tanzania (the company does not sponsor work visas/permits for this position).
