Job Summary:
Ifakara Health Institute is looking a Field Worker who will be based at Bagamoyo Branch to support Transmission Zero Project in conducting research activities on mosquito borne diseases and its surveillance.

Responsibilities:

  • To conduct research based on mosquito borne diseases and its surveillance.

  • Ensure all data and samples collected from the experiments are properly recorded and stored.

  • To comply with adherence to mosquito borne diseases and surveillance project implementation protocol.

  • To support M&E teams on generating summaries and reports emanating from mosquito surveillance implementation data for guiding operations.

  • To ensure systematic and proper handling and management of data.

  • To support Field Supervisor/Research Officer in data analysis and report writing.

  • To assist with any other duties as directed by project investigator.

Required Skills:

  • Good in laboratory and semi-field rearing of mosquito colonies.

  • Mosquito sorting using identification keys.

  • Mosquito dissection by using kits.

  • Field mosquito trapping using different traps.

  • Familiarity with research conducted at IHI based on malaria vector control will be an added advantage.

  • Computer skills (Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Skills on STATA, R Studio etc. will be an added advantage.

Essential Qualification:

  • Holder of Secondary Education or Certificate or Diploma of sciences in Laboratory Technology or any other related field.

Required Experience:

  • A candidate must have 2 years’ research experience in vector control and biology and rearing laboratory mosquito colonies.

Preferred Language:

  • Fluent both writting and verbal (English & Swahili)

Job Summary:
Ifakara Health Institute is looking an experienced Research Officer (MD) who will be stationed at Bagamoyo Branch under ViALLIN Project to ensure the delegated phases of the study are conducted in accordance with agreed protocols and that high quality data and reports are produced on time and to the satisfaction of the sponsor where applicable following the principles of GLP.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the procedures specified in the study plan are followed inform the study director and take appropriate corrective action if deviations from SOPs or study plans occur during the conduct of the study.

  • Participate in the writing of the study protocol and respond to comments if any.

  • Participate in the planning of the conduct of the study experiments and its necessary arrangements.

  • Ensure that all raw data generated are fully documented and recorded accurately.

  • Assist in writing the final report and ensure the validity of the data in compliance with principles of GLP.

  • Prepare and present oral and written reports as required by Project partners or Test Facility Manager.

  • Ensure that computerized systems used in the study have been validated and all equipment are calibrated and fit for use.

  • Ensure that after completion (including termination) of the study, the study plan, the final report, raw data and supporting material are archived.

  • Any other reasonable duty that maybe assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise projects across diverse geographical settings.

  • Familiarity with conducting studies in accordance with OECD GLP principles.

  • A team player with flexibility and the ability to work in a highly demanding, high-pressure environment will be an added advantage.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or a relevant science degree.

  • A Master of Science in Public Health with a proven record of accomplishment will be an added advantage.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in data analysis using Stata software.

  • Experience in conducting and supervising laboratory experiments in medical entomology.
