Logistics and Inventory Officer

Purpose of the role

Tabono Consult Ltd, on behalf of its client, is looking for a dynamic Logistics and Inventory Officer to be based at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

The role will act as an independent control function from the sales team, with the main responsibility of ensuring inventory accuracy and preventing stock discrepancies, losses, errors, or shrinkage.

Key responsibilities

Shipment reception and coordination

The Logistics and Inventory Officer will be responsible for receiving and coordinating incoming shipments at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Key duties include:

• Receive all incoming shipments at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
• Act as the on-site focal point for resolving issues related to shipment arrival or clearance.

Customs liaison

The officer will support smooth day-to-day coordination with customs officials and help resolve operational challenges related to incoming shipments.

Key duties include:

• Maintain good working relationships with customs officials at the airport.
• Support the resolution of day-to-day operational issues, including:
  • Delays
  • Missing documents
  • Inspections

Goods reception and verification

The officer will be responsible for physically checking all received goods and ensuring accuracy against shipping and packing documents.

Key duties include:

• Physically check all incoming goods against packing lists and shipping documents.
• Ensure quantities, references, and product conditions are accurate upon receipt.
• Report any discrepancies immediately, including:
  • Missing items
  • Damaged items
  • Incorrect items

Inventory control and loss prevention

The officer will help maintain strong inventory controls and support loss prevention procedures.

Key duties include:

• Conduct regular and monthly physical inventory counts.
• Investigate and report discrepancies independently from the sales team.
• Maintain clear and organized stock records.
• Monitor stock handling to prevent losses, errors, or shrinkage.
• Support the Loss Prevention Manager in maintaining strong control procedures.

Reporting and communication

The officer will ensure that all stock movements are properly documented and traceable.

Key duties include:

• Ensure transparency and traceability of all stock movements.
• Maintain proper documentation of shipments and inventory checks.
