Role Overview & Strategic Purpose
The QSHE Supervisor will lead the local Quality and Food Safety team in Dar es Salaam to ensure raw materials and finished products meet corporate and regulatory standards. The role drives Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs), maintains alignment with the Global Quality Management System (GQMS), oversees audit frameworks, and fosters a site-wide “Safety First, Quality Always” culture.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Quality & Safety Leadership: Champion site compliance and safety culture; train, coach, and manage the plant quality assurance team.
QMS & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce compliance with HACCP, GMP, SSOP, sanitation, and allergen control programs aligned with Global Quality Management System (GQMS) standards.
Audits & Continuous Improvement: Direct internal quality audits, trend quality performance data, and drive continuous improvement via root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Complaint & Incident Management: Lead root-cause investigations for customer complaints, non-conformances, and audit findings to prevent issue recurrence.
Inspections & Testing: Oversee raw material receiving inspections, inline testing, and final product approvals against strict technical specifications.
Staff Training: Develop and deliver training programs on food safety systems (FSMS), GMP, and quality guidelines for plant operational personnel.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in food quality, safety, and hygiene management.
Experience within a multinational food manufacturing, food ingredients, or pharmaceutical environment is highly desirable.
Certifications (Preferred/Advantage):
Certified in Food Safety Systems (e.g., FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMPs, GHPs).
Certified Lead Auditor status is a strong advantage.
Exposure to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
Core Competencies: Data-driven problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, strong leadership abilities, and deep familiarity with global food safety standards.
