Job Overview
VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank (VFT-MFB Limited), a Christian microfinance institution affiliated with World Vision, is seeking a qualified and proactive Relationship Officer to join its team in Arusha. The successful candidate will drive client recruitment, conduct credit investigations, manage loan portfolio repayments, champion financial inclusion, and provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Christian core values and organizational safeguarding policies.
Key Responsibilities
Client Recruitment & Orientation (30%): Market VFT-MFB loan products, screen prospective borrowers against eligibility criteria, conduct business/home visits to evaluate income stability, perform cash-flow and background investigations, verify guarantors and local leader endorsements, and train clients on credit policies.
Loan Processing (15%): Assist clients in accurately completing loan application forms, verify collateral requirements and mandatory cash security deposits, complete loan assessment checklists, and present qualified applications to the Branch Credit Committee.
Portfolio & Repayment Management (15%): Enforce zero-tolerance policy on delinquency, track repayment schedules, conduct immediate field follow-ups on overdue accounts, and institute penalty fees where applicable according to set procedures.
Market Growth & Business Promotion (10%): Plan and execute localized marketing activities, meet monthly loan disbursements/client acquisition targets, and promote a positive corporate image.
Customer Service & Client Relations (10%): Review legal security files, maintain strong relationships with borrowers, address customer complaints promptly, and recommend service improvements to branch management.
Teamwork & Value Alignment (10%): Maintain work-life balance, observe Christian core values, actively participate in daily devotions, and maintain a safe, collaborative work environment.
Reporting & Internal Controls (10%): Prepare and submit daily and weekly operational reports, report unethical behavior or policy violations, and implement internal audit recommendations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Microfinance, Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in microfinance credit operations, loan relationship management, or field marketing.
Career Level: Middle Management / Experienced Professional.
Competencies: Strong credit assessment, financial analytical, negotiation, field communication, and portfolio recovery skills.
