Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing veterinary medicine research and wildlife management duties, including the following:

• Setting up experiments and conducting data collection related to veterinary issues and wildlife management.
• Gathering relevant literature and information on diseases, surveillance, diagnosis, and preparing technical and research reports.
• Carrying out disease surveillance and producing technical reports.
• Collecting, processing, and analyzing samples related to wildlife diseases and ecosystem health.
• Preparing protocols for wildlife immobilization and handling for disease investigation, rescue from snares, collaring, and translocations.
• Supervising veterinary and laboratory students during their practical training.
• Providing wildlife veterinary services to researchers and management authorities in protected areas and other areas with wildlife in Tanzania.
• Immobilizing wild animals for translocation, restocking, or problem animal control.
• Developing research proposals for fundraising.
• Publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals or with peer-reviewed publishers.
• Performing any other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Holder of a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from recognized institutions.
• Must have a minimum of an Upper Second Class degree or an overall minimum of Grade B+ for unclassified undergraduate degrees.
