
We are a fast-growing aquaculture company based in Ukerewe specializing in fish farming, processing, and distribution. Our operations include cage farming, feed management, harvesting, processing, cold storage, and sales to regional markets. We are seeking a highly competent and business-oriented Accountant to strengthen our financial management and support strategic growth.
The Senior Accountant will oversee financial operations, cost control, and reporting functions of the aquaculture business. The ideal candidate must combine strong accounting skills with practical business acumen, particularly in production costing, inventory management, and cash flow planning.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Ensure compliance with Tanzanian tax laws (TRA, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax).
Coordinate external audits and statutory reporting.
Track and analyze:
Feed costs
Fingerlings costs
Mortality rates
Harvest yields
Processing and cold storage costs
Calculate cost per kg of fish produced.
Develop production cost models and margin analysis.
Monitor cage-by-cage performance profitability.
Oversee inventory management:
Fish stock (live and harvested)
Feed
Packaging materials
Implement stock control systems and reduce shrinkage.
Manage fixed asset register (boats, cages, generators, cold rooms).
Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Monitor budget vs actual performance.
Support management in pricing decisions and expansion planning.
Conduct break-even and investment analysis.
Manage cash flow projections.
Monitor receivables and payables.
Ensure adequate working capital for operations.
Maintain accounting system (e.g., ERPNext, SAP, QuickBooks).
Improve internal controls and reporting systems.
Automate financial and production reporting where possible.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA (T) / ACCA – Added advantage.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting (experience in manufacturing, agribusiness, or aquaculture preferred).
Strong knowledge of cost accounting.
Experience working with ERP systems.
Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills.
Understanding of inventory-heavy operations.
Strong business acumen and commercial thinking.
Ability to interpret production data into financial insights.
Analytical and detail-oriented.
High integrity and accountability.
Ability to work in semi-remote environments (Ukerewe).
Leadership capability to supervise junior finance staff.
Accurate monthly financial reporting (within deadline).
Reduction in production cost variance.
Improved gross margin per kg of fish.
