Position details

Position: Technical Specialist – Auto Electrician UG
Department: Engineering

Objective of the role

The Technical Specialist – Auto Electrician UG will provide specialist maintenance and repair support for underground heavy mining equipment with RCT systems. The role ensures compliance with OEM standards, supports safe equipment operation, and promotes effective skills transfer to national auto-electricians.

Role accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering advanced maintenance and repair support for underground heavy mining equipment, with a strong focus on RCT systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and performing repairs on remote systems and electrical components.
  • Training, coaching, and transferring technical skills to national auto-electricians.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the development progress of national auto-electricians.
  • Conducting diagnostic electrical tests and providing specialist advice to the UG Engineering Superintendent.
  • Coordinating parts ordering and liaising with planners, agents, and manufacturers to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Completing required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Ensuring effective repair of vehicles and plant equipment, including petrol and diesel-powered equipment.

Role requirements

Education and qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A recognized trade certificate in Auto Electrical work.
  • Certification in Air Conditioning and Radio Communication.
  • A trainer or coach qualification, preferably certification or diploma level, will be an added advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have:

  • At least 8 to 10+ years of experience in heavy underground mining equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with detailed maintenance strategies for underground equipment.
  • Proven experience as a trainer or coach.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Extensive capability in RCT systems.
  • Competence in repairing and maintaining a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment.
