The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) (Swahili: Chuo Kikuu cha Dar es Salaam) is a public university located in Ubungo District, Dar es Salaam Region, Tanzania. It was established in 1961 as an affiliate college of the University of London. The university became an affiliate of the University of East Africa (UEA) in 1963, shortly after Tanzania gained its independence from the United Kingdom. In 1970, UEA split into three independent universities: Makerere University in Uganda, the University of Nairobi in Kenya, and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania abbrivated as UDSM.

Overview

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is conducting a national academic recruitment drive to fill 31 Tutorial Assistant positions across engineering, medical sciences, computer science, humanities, business economics, and agricultural research faculties.

General Qualifications and Duties for Tutorial Assistant Posts

Common Duties and Responsibilities

Under-study senior academic staff members by attending lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions.
Conduct undergraduate seminars, tutorials, and practical classes.
Assist senior faculty in research projects, consultancy services, and public community engagements.
Undergo postgraduate training to attain a Master’s degree.
Execute additional relevant tasks assigned by department heads or supervisors.

Core Academic Requirement

Applicants for all Tutorial Assistant positions must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university (accredited by the Tanzania Commission for Universities) with a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.8 out of 5.0.

Salary Scale: PUTS 1.1
Eligible Degrees: Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Bachelor of Commerce in Finance.

3. Tutorial Assistant – Medical Physics (2 Posts)

Salary Scale: PUTS 1.1
Eligible Degrees: Bachelor of Science with Education (Physics major), Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics, or Bachelor of Science in Physics.
