Safari Yangu Kielimu (SYK) Foundation is a registered community-based initiative headquartered in Kibaha Municipality, Tanzania, focused on education, youth empowerment and sustainable development.
SYK Foundation wishes to expand its youth helpful database and hence invites competent people in different areas, educators, mentors, and development professionals as volunteering speakers in youth and students’ platforms in Mainland Tanzania starting with Coast and Dar es Salaam Regions and scaling up to other Regions.
SYK Foundation aims at connecting the youth using different platforms with the necessary required knowledge, skills, experiences, exposures for economic and social advancement. By combining motivational engagement, practical life exposures, and career-oriented training, the Foundation will empower the youth with both inspirational and tools to embrace personal growth and progress with optimism, recognize their potential and gain early exposure and experiences that are essential for academic, professional and economic success.
Through these platforms, SYK Project also seeks to ignite students’ interest and improve their performance in education including science subjects and other important initial basic life skills by facilitating mentorship and guidance from successful professionals, individuals and business models across various fields.
SYK Foundation collaborates with communities and partners across Tanzania and beyond to host mentorship sessions, innovation labs, alumni career talks and others. Volunteering Speakers bring real-World relevance, confidence and motivation thus helping the young see what’s possible and how it can practically be done.
The main objective of this approach is to empower students and the youth to become confident, skilled, and innovative individuals capable of contributing positively to their communities and the Nation at large.
Speakers from different professions and backgrounds are strongly encouraged to volunteer.
Speakers are expected to offer their real life stories and how they were able to walk through the different paths, challenges and become successful. Depending on speaker’s knowledge and experience they are expected to share own experiences and exposures in education, business and entrepreneurship, life skills, decision-making, conflict resolution, self-awareness, financial education and others.
Other areas include, but not limited to, business communication, leadership, time management, self-awareness, teamwork and critical thinking, income generating skills, poultry and fish farming, technical skills such as tailoring and carpentry works, horticulture and commercial crops production and entrepreneurship skills.
Speakers in ethical related matters and integrity are also strongly encouraged to volunteer.
They are expected to support in creating peer support networks including alumni networks in respective Secondary Schools in Districts and Regions. Support and participate in youth-led forums for continuous learning.
To provide advice and support in strengthening talent development and inspire students’ interest in science and innovation and other fields and provide students and the youth with practical experiences that broaden their horizons in linking their talents to career opportunities.
Facilitate end-of-year talent festivals that bring together students, youth, parents, alumni, professionals, and the business community to appreciate and support students’ and youth talents.
In addition to encouraging innovations in different subject areas; support in having in place effective special clubs where students will be encouraged and organized to compete and come out with solutions in addressing real life solutions in solving community problems.
This involves establishing and organizing special events such as Regional Youth Innovation & Talents Expo where students and other youth from Districts in a respective Region compete in coming up with innovations in addressing practical issues or challenges in science, technology, sports, arts and others facing own localities.
