CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

TO

PROVIDE COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES TO WFT

1.0 BACKGROUND
WFT was registered in Tanzania in 2008 as a non-profit organization and became operational in 2011. WFT is a growing women’s rights fund and the first of its kind in the country WFT’s overall goal is to contribute towards women’s rights and empowerment, and to women’s movement building through implementing a functional funding mechanism for women in
Tanzania.

2.0 THE CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
WFT is inviting firms and individuals with the requisite expertise to provide Communication and Media technical support on a yearly retainer basis. The firm or individual(s) will support WFT to develop and maintain a public presence in traditional electronic and social media platforms as well as support the advancement and/or refining of WFTs internal and external communications strategy. The key objective of this assignment is thus to assist WFT in its on- going processes towards strengthening its communication strategy to match its Strategic Plan and growth. During the assignment, the consultant will support the production of communication deliverables, event management and women rights advocacy campaigns

3.0 SCOPE OF THE CONSULTANCY
In collaboration with WFT staff and specifically its Executive Director and Communications Specialty, main tasks of consultant will include:

3.0.1 REVIEW OF THE EXISTING COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

• To assess the current WFT Communication Strategy by identifying areas which need improvement and best communication practices, in support of WFT’s vision, mission, goals and growth.
• Examine WFTs Strategic Plan and determine its communication requirements, including key areas of grants making and coalition building.
• Identify critical issues related to information, education and awareness on extortion’s, HER story and other matrixes.

3.0.2 MEDIA RELATIONS
• Organize and coordinate media engagements, visits, interviews, press conferences, press statements when required to do so)
• Write news stories, feature articles and special supplements on women activities and issues that retard their development such as gender based violence (GBV) and few oppressive laws and traditions

3.0.4 EVENTS MANAGEMENT
• To organize and ensure improved visibility of WFT and its coalition groups on timely/active participation of women’s commemorations, community affairs, social responsibilities, fundraising, anniversaries, awards, seminars exhibitions and such events.
• Manage effectively public representations in gender festivals, launches, conferences, rallies and such
programmes.

3.0.5 BRANDING
• Improve WFTs identify and branding through well printed
brochures booklets, banners, billboard, profiles and other

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

  1. Review the existing communication strategy (2015-2019)
    and develop a new one for internal and external stakeholders (2020- 2024)
  2. Develop a media outreach plan to identify, build and maintain good relationships with a network of traditional. electronic and specialized media ( Journalists, broadcasters and social media editors)
  3. Actively create media visibility opportunities for WFT and distribution materials. its coalition groups through production of informative articles, TV and radio interviews and other necessary media coverage that will create a positive image.
  4. Assist in the production of WFT’s online magazine (English and Kiswahili versions). The magazines (online andprinted) will be non-political but very firm on the feminist leadership.
  5. Assist in the production of a quarterly WFTs printed magazine. The consultant should advise as why it will have an impact, if online magazine is already in place.Attach one or two samples of how the printed magazine will look like, its size and number of pages.
  6. Assist in arranging for online/interest TV (mobile and through their cell phones and computing devices.
  7. Assist in production of video documentaries that will have an impact on our agenda.
  8. Arrange for quarterly training of staff and board member son media and communicate issues (when required to do SO)
  9. Write a specific paper on crisis management and communication, to guide and inform management and Board Members for preparedness of crises in future.
    10.Provide monthly communication reports to the management.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. The applicant (individual or firm) must have recognized qualifications in public relations / mass communication/- journalism/advertising /marketing fields
  2. Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the relevant fields of public relations and communication as well as journalism.
  3. Experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications, consultancies/advocacy will be highly desirable.
  4. Have effective communication and training skills
  5. Awareness on gender issues and issues of concern for the women’s movement at community and national level.

DURATION OF WORK:
The assignment will be lor an initial period of one year. Theassignment will be effective on the date of signing the contract.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
WFT shall, solely and exclusively, own all rights in and to any work created and handled over to WFT within this contract. The fellow shall no! be allowed to post or publish or distribute(electronically or in print) any materials or information without the explicit consent of its Executive Director or her appointed representative

SUBMISSION FORMAT
The individual or firm must submit two envelopes of expression of interest. One that has details on issues (TECHNICAL PROPOSAL) and it should not exceed 15 typed pages. And another (FINANCIAL PROPOSAL) which give approximate costs for each activity detailed in the Technical Report. The two envelopes snail then be enclosed in a single envelope and

Late expression of interest shall not be accepted for evaluation irrespective of the circumstances.
