- This request for Expression of Interests follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project
that appeared in United Nations Development Business (UNDB) on 31st December 2015. - The Government of Tanzania has received financing from World Bank towards the cost of the
Dar es Salaam Urban Transport Improvement Project (DUTP) and intends to apply part of the
proceeds of this Credit to eligible payments under the Contract for Engagement of the Structural Engineer to support the implementation of DUTP and Capacity Building to TANROADS, Tender No. AE.001/2022-23/HQ/C/102. - The consulting services (“the Services”) include monitoring of compliance of structural works
for road works associated with bridges, box culverts and other pertinent drainage structures,
buildings (bus terminals, bus depots and bus stations) and associated facilities. The Structural
Engineer shall also be monitoring of the standard procedures specified in the contract documents and ensure that only the best practice and standard method of construction are observed in the construction of BRT infrastructures. The timeframe for the execution of this assignment is 12 months. - The detailed Terms of reference (TOR) for the assignment are available on the following website www.tanroads.go.tz.
- The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), an Agency of the Ministry of Works and
Transport now invites eligible individual Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the
Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the
required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. Such information may include updated detailed CV duly signed and copies of academic, testimonial, and professional certificates. The interested Consultants should have the following qualifications and experience: a) Education: (i) The Structural Engineer must be a registered professional Civil/Structural Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering. (ii) A Postgraduate qualification in Structural/Bridge Engineering will be an added advantage. b) Working Experience: She/he must have a minimum of five (5) years working experience related to construction supervision of structures/bridges in road projects. (ii) She/he must have been involved as a Structural Engineer or Assistant Structural Engineer in at least two (2) Civil/ Structural Works project related to roads/bridges in last 10 years. c) Language and Regional Experience: (i) Must have a minimum working experience of at least three (3) years in developing countries and (ii) Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory. - The attention of interested Individual Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers, January 2011, revised July 2014 (“Consultant Guidelines”) setting forth the World Bank’s policy on Conflict of Interest.
- A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Individual Consultant Selection Method set out in the “World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits and Grants by World Bank Borrowers; dated January 2011 revised July 2014.”.
