CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AS MEMBER OF THE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE TANZANIA INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE

The Tanzania International Arbitration Centre was established by the Tanganyika LAW Society 2019 to provide administrative in disputes resolution services which include international domestic commercial arbitration adjudication mediation and conciliation and is operationally independent from the Government by maintaining high quality panel of arbitration and mediators who are known for their integrity, impartiality and expense for effective resolution of disputes outside court

TIAC operates with the support of an advisory board a board of directors and a secretariat and draws the establishment legal framework for international arbitration in Tanzania

TIAC shall establish an advisory committee consisting of independent nominees from time to time the board of directors of the centre shall appoint from among the members of the law society business communication as well as imminent international personalities specialized in the fields of international arbitration ADR Mechanism and international investment law and trade to the following positions Chairpersons Vice Chairpersons 8 Members and 2 x ex-official members

SCOPE OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES

The advisory board of providers and advice to the TAIC secretariat and TAIC Board of director support in the institutions adhere to acceptance international standards including policy advice

TERMS

The terms of the advisory committee shall be 4 yrs which may be renewed once for similar term unless otherwise determined due to special circumstances

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The applicants shall meet the following criteria in order to qualify

  • A degree in law or other relevant social science a masters degree in alternative dispute resolution would be an assets
  • Formal accreditations or training in arbitration, meditation or any other ADR Mechanism
  • Proven international arbitration or domestic commercial arbitration experience
  • Proven adjudication oe meditation experience at least 7 yrs and
  • Proficiency in English (both oral and written)
