ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT
The call for the application invites experts to conduct research about to conduct a study about access to legal aid services in Tanzania after the enactment of legal Aid Act of 2017 and its regulations of 2018
TSL is a statutory professional organization established by an act of Parliament the TSL ordinance 1954 current by TSL by the TSL Act Cap 307 as amended
One of the components of TSL statutory outlined in the TSL Act Cap 307 is to assist government judiciary and parliament in all affecting legislation and the administration and practice of the law Tanzania. other TSL STATUTORY mandate include to facilitate the acquisition of legal knowledge by member of legal professional and other to project and assist the public in Tanzania in all matters touching ancillary incidental to the law and to represent protect and assist member of the legal profession in Tanzania as regard to conditions of practice and otherwise
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
The overall objective is to conduct statutory about access to legal aid in Tanzania after the enactment of legal act of 2017 and its regulations of 2018
The specific research objectives are
- To examine the prevailing policy, law and practice on the issue of legal aid in Tanzania
- To analyze the gaps in response to the cause of legal aid in Tanzania
- To examine the role of Law society in promoting legal aid services for the needy

QUALIFICATION NEEDED
- The principal investigator should hold PHD in law or any discipline of the social sciences
- The principal investigator should be a citizen of Tanzania
- Should demonstrate a commitment and proven track record in research consultancy and public work
- The principal investigator should be assisted by team of assistant researcher with undergraduate qualifications or higher
- At least 2 assistance research should be advocates of high court of Tanzania
- Non- TANZANIA INTERESTED IN THE ASSIGNMENT can only work as assistant research and shall comply with the immigration laws
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- A recent CV of the principal investigator indicating his/her academic record, relevant experience lists of publications and at least 2 academic referee
- Profile assistant research explaining why they are more suitable for the work
