Natural of position Consultancy

Rationale

Purpose of the Consultancy: The Country Office is planning to produce advocacy materials that will support Country Office’s advocacy and fundraising needs, both locally and internationally. The photographic and advocacy materials produced will serve as tools to raise WHO visibility and support programme resource mobilization efforts.

The products are expected to be highly visual, attractively laid out, user-friendly and fresh, and help communicate the human impact of WHO’S work in the health sector.

Through the communications focal point, the Country Office seeks to contract copy-writing, copy-editing, layout and design services for two (2) products: the WHO Country Office Booklet and WHO Tanzania Investment Case document.

Work to be performed

Under the supervision and overall guidance of the Communications Lead, the selected candidate/firm will perform the following tasks:

  • Conceive art direction for publication including layout and cover design for the two reports
  • Design tables, charts, infographics based on content and guidance from WHO. This should be presented and made available in a format (square images) that can also be shared online and on social media.
  • Submit preliminary layouts and designs for discussion with WHO.
  • Revise the selected layout as discussed with WHO.
  • Design and layout the report for publication.
  • Submit the publication to WHO for final review and proofreading.
  • Ensure all corrections have been inserted
  • Obtain final sign-off from WHO.
  • Prepare and finalize print and pdf-ready files.
  • All final files to be delivered to WHO upon completion.

Deliverables

Key deliverables from this assignment will include:

The final files of the WHO Country Office Booklet and WHO Tanzania Investment Case upon completion including original design files.

Technical Supervision

WHO will provide all needed text, data messages and photos to the designer as well as guidance on branding and logos.

EDUCATION:  

Desired: University degree in social sciences, journalism, photojournalism or other related disciplines.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, InDesign or CorelDraw.
  • Access to design software. email and own IT equipment.
  • Show a clear, innovative and mature style of design.
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management.
  • Working experience in development or humanitarian environment and familiarity with international organizations is desirable.
  • Experience producing infographics.

  • This work can be done remotely.

TIMELINE AND REPORTING  

Duration

This assignment is expected to be conducted for a period of 21 working days. The final two (2) reports must be submitted by December 2019.

Outputs delivered under this consultancy contract will remain the property of the World Health Organization.
