Organisation Description

WeWorld is an Italian independent non-governmental organisation working in Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid projects in 29 countries worldwide, including Italy. The NGO carries out 128 projects reaching over 2.4 million direct beneficiaries and 12.3 million indirect beneficiaries. Children, women and youth, actors of change in every community, are the protagonists of WeWorld projects and campaigns in the following fields of intervention: gender equality, prevention and contrast of violence against women and children, migrations, humanitarian aid (prevention, aid and reconstruction), food security, water and sanitation, health, education and learning, socio-economic development, environmental protection, global citizenship education and international volunteering.

 

Project Framework

The Intern is expected to support communication and advocacy activities of the project “Kujenga Amani Pamoja” [Building the peace together], co-funded by the European Union. The project is a multi-country program implemented in the coastal bordering areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique. It aims at enhancing the key role of youth networks and grassroots organizations in mobilizing youth to become agents of positive change within their communities. The project adopts a community-led approach that recognizes that grassroots efforts are crucial for building a more inclusive and peaceful society. Through participatory approaches, WeWorld supports the use of media and arts to empower youth and to promote social cohesion, peacebuilding and gender equality. In Tanzania, the project is implemented in Tanga and Mtwara Regions.

 

Key Objectives of the Internship

The Intern is expected to provide support to the communication and advocacy activities of the project in full compliance with the organization procedures and the donor’s guidelines, including planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities, under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the finance team.

Specifically, the intern is expected to:

  • support the design and follow up of the production and distribution of visibility items (stickers, banners, flyers, posters, etc.) and material, including graphics (banners, infographics, etc.);
  • support the preparation of web content;
  • support the organization of project events;
  • support the archiving system;
  • support monitoring and coordination of communication activities.

Requirements:

  • Specific media and communication studies or courses
  • Excellent communication (writing and oral) skills and reporting skills in English
  • Confident with graphics software
  • Computer skills, in particular MS Office, web and social media skills
