GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

Name of Project: KAKONO HYDROPOWER PROJECT

1. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received a loan from the African
   Development Bank (the “Bank”) and French Development Agency; and a grant from European
   Union Delegation to finance the Kakono Hydropower Project, herein referred to as the “Project.”
2. The principal objective of the Project is “to increase on-grid energy production from least- cost
   renewables to address the electricity deficits in north-western Tanzania.”
3. The Project includes the following main components: –
   A. Construction of Kakono hydropower plant estimated at 87.8 MW,
   B. Construction of power evacuation facilities,
   C. Project administration and management,
   D. Implementation of the Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan.
4. The procurement of goods, works and services, financed by the Bank, will be carried out in
   accordance with the Bank’s “Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations” dated
   October 2015 in line with the provisions stated in the loan agreement. The Specific Procurement
   Notice in relation to the “Consultancy services for construction supervision and management of the
   87.8 MW Kakono Hydropower Project in Kagera Region” was published on 24th April, 2023.
   Other Specific Procurement Notices are expected to be available on February, 2024.
