Job Title: Costing Accountant

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Department: Costing

Grade: P2

Job Purpose:

Cost accountant will be responsible for: Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases. inventory to drive our production line. Strict regulation over the costs of materials, supplies, machinery, shipping and other processes in the plant. Manage budget and Analyzing audits of costs and preparing report.
To account for the ongoing analysis of constraint, target costing projects, margin analysis, tracking cost back to underlying activities, construct and monitor cost effective data accumulation systems needed to provide appropriate level of costing information to management.Subordinate titles:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyzing data collected and recording results
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.

  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
  • Reconciles finished goods inventories
  • Review purchase requisitions of power factory and tanks factory
  • Review purchase orders of power factory and tanks factory.

Job Requirements:

Years of experience:

  • Minimum: 2 Years
  • Preferred: 5 Years

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Finance/commerce/Accounting in or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional Certificates:
  • CPA is an added advantage

Language proficiency:

  • English & Swahili

Computer skills:

  • Microsoft Office
