Femina Hip’s core agendas are:
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), which includes Gender and Gender-Based Violence
- Economic Empowerment (EE)
- Citizen Engagement (CE)

Board Recruitment Criteria for Femina Hip
Online recruitment
To ensure effective governance and strategic direction, board members must meet the following criteria:
1. Proven Experience in Board Governance
- Demonstrated experience serving on other boards, preferably within the nonprofit or NGO sector.
- Understanding of how NGOs operate, including their challenges, funding mechanisms, and community impact.
- Familiarity with governance structures, decision-making processes, and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of legal, ethical, and fiduciary responsibilities of board members.
- Commitment to upholding governance best practices, transparency, and accountability.
Other helpful qualities include:
- Possess a passion for Femina Hip’s vision, mission, values, and objectives.
2. Expertise in Key Areas
Candidates must possess expertise in one of the following areas:
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR):
Knowledge of SRHR policies, advocacy, and program implementation. - Gender:
Experience in gender equality and gender-sensitive policymaking. - Finance, Risk, and Audit:
Strong financial acumen, risk assessment, audit oversight experience, and/or a legal background. - Resource Mobilization & Impact Investment:
Proven track record in securing funding, donor relations, and impact-driven investments.
Commitment and Availability
- Board membership is strictly on a volunteer basis. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to contribute their expertise and time without financial compensation.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability and willingness to prioritize board responsibilities and actively contribute to discussions and initiatives.
- Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to dedicate time for a 5-day Board of Directors’ training session, which is essential for onboarding and alignment with the organization.
