1.0. Overview
Tanzania Coffee Board is a government body established by the Tanzania Coffee Industry Act No. 23 of 2001 and the Miscellaneous Amendments Act of 2009. On behalf of Mbozi Coffee Curing Company Limited, the Board is hereby inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced, dynamic, and motivated Tanzanian citizens to immediately fill the vacant position of General Manager currently existing in Mbozi Coffee Curing Company Limited.
1.1. Qualifications and Experience
- Holder of a Master’s degree in Processing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Laws, Business Administration, or any equivalent qualifications.
- At least ten (10) years’ experience in a senior management position, with four (4) years in the coffee management sector.
1.2. Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibility is managing, planning, and coordinating the company’s activities, with the following specific duties:
i. Ensuring effective overall management and supervision of the company’s activities.
ii. Overseeing the planning and execution of development activities.
iii. Directing the formulation of policy proposals for consideration by the Board in relation to the physical and financial functions of the company.
iv. Interpreting policies laid down by the Board and issuing internal regulations and procedural instructions thereof.
v. Preparing annual budgets for the company and submitting them to the Board for approval.
vi. Regularly reviewing actual performance against plans, budgets, and standards, and submitting reports to the Board detailing performance with recommendations for action necessary to correct adverse variances.
vii. Establishing the responsibilities of immediate subordinates and delegating the necessary authority for them to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
viii. Making recommendations to the Board on staffing levels required by the company and ensuring effective policies and procedures are established for management of human resources at all levels.
ix. Ensuring that the company’s activities conform to existing laws and regulations in the country.
x. Linking the company with the coffee industry stakeholders.
xi. Acting as the final authority for management decisions within the company.
xii. Safeguarding the company’s financial position and ensuring that it discharges its financial obligations.
xiii. Ensuring that all company’s financial transactions are authorized and controlled in accordance with agreed procedures and that proper systems of internal controls are maintained.
xiv. Ensuring that the accounts of the company are prepared and submitted to the external auditors within four months after the end of the financial year.
xv. Maintaining harmonious relations between customers, coffee cooperative unions, and other stakeholders.
xvi. Serving as Secretary to the Board of Directors and coordinating all Directors’ meetings.
xvii. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.
1.3. Terms of Service
The General Manager shall be employed under three (3) year contract terms, renewable upon satisfactory performance.
