Job Purpose:
To provide strategic and operational leadership for the Finance Department, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and support for decision-making to enhance organizational performance and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
Advise senior management and the board on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.
Contribute to corporate strategy through financial analysis and forecasting.
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and annual reports.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure regular forecasting updates.
Monitor budgetary performance and control costs.
Provide insights for continuous financial improvement.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimize capital structure.
Oversee banking relationships and treasury operations.
Evaluate funding options and manage debt obligations.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
Strengthen internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Coordinate internal and external audits.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build capacity and ensure high performance.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Prepare and present financial reports to the board and executive team.
Support cross-functional teams with financial insights and decision-making tools.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Experience in [insert relevant industry: e.g., manufacturing, agribusiness, energy, etc.] is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of financial management principles, IFRS, and local tax laws.
