Responsibilities
- Maintenance of regular pharmacy activities including the health center in line with Operating Policy
- Maintain registration to practice in Tanzania as Pharmaceutical Technician
- Advise OHM Supervisor of any policy changes necessary to maintain the services in alignment with (country) law.
- Maintain a current list of pharmacy items including price updating.
- Ensure pharmacy is secure, clean, well-stocked and that policies are in place regarding the provision of a safe and efficient service.
- Provide patients with accurate and detailed information regarding their prescriptions and other pharmacy requirements.
- Provide advice and technical support to medical and nursing staff in relation to pharmacy requirements.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory always ensuring adequate stock control and stock on hand.
- Assist OHM Supervisor and nursing staff to maintain inventory of disposables.
- Assist in the development of new, revised, and renewed pharmacy policy and procedure in line with ongoing changes to service.
- Assist with training and orientation of new pharmacy, medical and nursing personnel.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all items in the medical center.
- Attend and actively participate in Clinic Meetings and other meetings as requested by OHM Supervisor or Medical Officer.
- Actively participate in the development and maintenance of the Quality Management Program
- Review instances of medication error with Medical Officer and OHM Supervisor
- Provide monthly reports to OHM Supervisor on pharmacy activity, quality management, client services or any concerns regarding the provision of pharmacy services.
- Supports and contributes to maintaining a safe working environment, promoting accident prevention, and reporting potential hazards.
Qualification requirements
- Diploma in Pharmacy from recognized/registered training institution.
- Always demonstrate professional acumen.
- Must demonstrate good oral / written communication skills in English.
- Team Player and result oriented.
- Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Maintain a safe working practice and environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Punctuality.
- Must have computer skills in software, power point, M/S word and MS excel.
Experience and competencies needed.
- 2-3 years, working in a Mining Industry will be an added advantage.
- Experience of working in medical institutions reflecting ability to perform on client sites as above requirements.
- Understanding of Law as it relates to medicine.
- Ability to work autonomously/independently with limited supervision.
- Good time management skills and the ability to complete tasks in a safe, timely and professional fashion.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
- Possesses a recognized valid driving license and able to operate a light vehicle.
