JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Process Controller – Production

Department: Paint Production

Reports To: Production Head

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

JOB SUMMARY

To ensure production of paints and allied products is carried out as per laid down procedures, using right materials, and following right established processes. Ensuring that desired output is obtained “Right First Time” and product meets specified requirements of quality standards. Implementing quality control systems; testing and overseeing the implementation of processes; identifying areas that need process control optimization; evaluating the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, equipment, tools, and instruments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Head of section /cell of production department.
  • Provide feedback on all production batches with respect to quality and quantity.
  • Lead the respective production team and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Proactively act on issues related to production.

Technical

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing within his/her section as guided by broad production plan.
  • Monitor processes within production unit by verifying raw materials, validating equipment’s, authorizing charging sequence of raw materials.
  • Account for raw materials used in products processing and ensure reconciliation with respective batches of production.
  • Report any issues within production line immediately for guidance.
  • Reinforce discipline and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) within the section.
  • Advise / provide feedback to superiors on issues related to continual improvement and governance.
  • Attend to Process and section audits as auditee.
  • Report / record keeping for requisite activities within the section as per standard requirements.

Quality Assurance

  • Carry out required quality checks and ensure product specifications are met before submitting for final approval to Quality Control team.
  • Verification of measuring instruments/devices performance e.g.- Raw material handling via flow meters, weighing balances, dipsticks etc.
  • Verification of issued RM from RM stores before usage.
  • Review of all production batches and report abnormalities if any to higher authorities.
  • Verify information printed on the respective batch cards, identification labels / stickers, and/or information printed on packaging.
  • Actively participate in investigations of reported customer complaints.

Safety

  • Ensure that all manufacturing activities are conducted following safe work practices.
  • Assessing risk of an area before operation.
  • Ensure that SOPs are followed across all processes of manufacturing.
  • Identification of occupational hazards in the respective sections.
  • Ensure that all recommended PPEs are used by personnel.
  • Report incidents and conduct training for personnel who are involved in manufacturing.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping of the area
  • Conducting RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of an incidence

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry / Chemical & Processing Engineering or related science streams.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
