  1. Background and project description
The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP), Baltimore USA, receives funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under the Breakthrough ACTION Tanzania project to implement social and behaviour change (580) interventions designed to improve malaria outcomes among priority populations and areas in Tanzania.

As one of several malaria control projects in Tanzania, Breakthrough ACTION Tanzania works with the Government of Tanzania, the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children National Malaria Control Program and other malaria stakeholders to improve adoption and uptake of malaria interventions among individuals, families, communities, and health workers through evidence-based and contextually appropriate SBC activities.

In Tanzania, malaria remains a major disease burden. Almost all the population is estimated to be at risk of the disease, with children and pregnant women at the greatest risk. While malaria remains a significant public health concern, in the past two years the country has also been grappling with COVID-19, which has brought challenges to the health system and malaria prevention is even more important now than ever. The distribution of insecticide treated nets (ITNs) has been ongoing in Tanzania.

  1. Purpose of the consultancy services
This RFP seeks to identify a qualified local organization to conduct community and media based malaria social and behaviour change activities around the upcoming targeted net distribution campaigns including the school net program (SNP) in different parts of Tanzania. This is part of a national campaign, led by the N MCP, intended to distribute lifesaving ITNs to eligible households in targeted areas.
  2. Timeframe
Work will commence after the execution of the agreement by both CCP and the Consultant. All deliverables should be completed within the agreed timeframe of the execution of the agreement.
  3. Required Experience
Previous experience in social and behaviour change activities (SBCs) in the health facility, community, and school-based is highly desirable.
  4. Application Requirements
Interested applicants may request a full RFO document. To [email protected] and the deadline for requesting the RFO document is 26th April 2022 at 5 pm. The deadline for application submission will be on 3rd May 2022 at 12:00 noon.
