TENDER NO. UMBA AREAS/01/2022
RE: TENDER NOTICE INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR PROSPECTING LICENCES ON THE DESIGNATED UMBA AREAS IN TANGA REGION
1. In accordance with the provisions of section 15 (1} of the Mining Act. Cap. 123. the Minister of Minerals issued a Government Notice No. 423 of 17th June. 2022 with a view to designating Umba Areas in Tanga described as per geographical coordinates attached hereto as Appendix A as an area for which he may invite applications by tender for Prospecting Licenses.
2. In view of the above paragraph, the Ministry is seeking investors with the financial and technical capability to conduct geological exploration of the designated areas for the purpose of developing the areas into medium and large-scale mining projects (Mining Licensee and Special Mining Licenses).
3. In the event of a discovery of commercially viable mineral resources, the investor shall apply for a Mining Licensee or
8 Special Mining Licensee. However, if the investor discovers gemstone minerals, the investor shall comply with section 8(6) of the Mining Act, Cap. 123.
4. A successful bidder will be required to comply with the requirements of the Mining Act, Cap. 123 for the grant of Prospecting Licenses. foregoing terms and conditions and aspects described in a Qualification Criteria as per Appendix B.
5. Therefore, pursuant to the provisions of the Mining Act and Regulations made thereunder, the Minister of Minerals invites bids from eligible applicants for the Prospecting Licenses at Umba Area in Tanga as described in Appendix
6. All tender applications shall be submitted to the Mining Commission for its consideration and selection of the successful bidder.
7, All tender applications, one original and two copies must be submitted to the Mining Commission not later than 31st August 2022 before 1530 hours at the following address.
