MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE COMMUNICATIONS AND TRANSPORTATION SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE FOR

CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR FEASIBILITY STUDY, DETAILED ENGINEERING DESIGN AND PREPARATION OF TENDER DOCUMENTS FOR THE UPGRADING OF KITOGANI PAJE, MAHONDA DONGE, DUNGA CHWAKA PONGWE, KINYASINI KIWENGWA, MUYUNI NUNGWI AND KIZIMKAZI MAKUNDUCHI IN UNGUJA ISLAND ZANZIBAR.

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

1.This request for expression of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in the Zanzibar Leo Newspaper, Issue no. 5789 dated 22nd July, 20l9.

2. The Government of Zanzibar under the Ministry of Infrastructure Communication and Transportation has set aside fund in the Budget of Financial Year 20 I 9/2020 and intends to apply part of the proceeds for the eligible payments under the contract for Consultancy services for Feasibility Study, Detailed Engineering Design and Preparation of Tender Documents for upgrading of Kitogani Paje, Mahonda Donge, Dunga Chwaka Pongwe, Kinyasini Kiwengwa. Muyuni Nungwi and Kizimkazi Makunduchi in Unguja Island, Zanzibar.

3. The services include: Carrying out an economic and environmental feasibility study. Social impact assessment, detailed engineering design and preparation of bidding documents for the upgrading works. Phase I covers the economic feasibility study, Environment impact Assessment and Preliminary Design of the road and Phase 2 covers the Detailed Engineering Design, Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and preparation of bidding documents. Phase One is expected to complete in Six (6) months period while phase Two is expected to complete in Nine (9) months.

4. The Ministry of Infrastructure Communication and Transportation on behalf of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consulting firms must provide statement of capability and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description/of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

5. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act, No. i l of 20l6 and its Regulations.

6. Interested Consulting firms may obtain further information at the address below during office hours from 7.30 to 15.30 hours East African Time, on Monday to Friday inclusive, except on public holidays.

7. Written expressions of interest clearly mentioned the name of the services must be delivered to the address below by 24th October, 20|9 at |0.00 am local time on Thursday.
