Introduction
SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania (SOS CV T2) is an independent non-governmental social development organization affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, working in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Our mission is to build families for children in need and helping them shape their own futures. The work of SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania (SOS CV TZ) began in 1991 in Zanzibar. and later in spread to mainland to Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Mwanza regions. From Year 2017 the organization extended its programs to lringa and Mufindi districts.
Our flagship services as child development organization includes Care, Education and Health to reach children who have lost parental care and those at-risk of losing parental care.
The overall purpose of the project is to improve the education opportunities for children under play and learn project in Chanika and Zingiziwa wards. This is attained through improving the learning environment and strengthening the quality of education in the target area. Also, the project aims at strengthening the MEMKWA programme to enable out of school children to access education. Requirements
The United Nations convention on rights of a child article 6(Article 6. UNlCEF) every child has a right to early childhood development. This provides a child with greater chances of reaching his potentials in future. If every child gets to have a good start in life that is if he or she grows up in nurturing and stimulating environment that meets his or her essential needs such as safety, health, education, psychological and social needs
SOS Children’s Village Dar Es Salaam through Play and Learn program is looking for national, individual company/ consultants who will refurbish and transform the TEN public schools in Chanika and Zingiziwa ward pre-primary classes for the children to access quality learning and playful environments, the selected schools are_
Chanika Primary School. ii). Lukooni Primary School, iii). Kimwani Primary School iv). Vikongoro Primary School .
v). Zingiziwa Primary School, vi). Nzasa Primary School vii) Yongwe Primary School viii). Tungini Primary School
ix). 6090 primary school x). Lubakaya Primary school.
The refurbishment will have to fully engage children. teachers and local government authorities -as to ensure its sustainability, create ownership commitment and reach their potential need.
General Objective
The general objective is to create a a comfortable learning and playing environment for the children
Specific objectives:
Specifically, refurbishment of pre-primary classes
- To improve the quality of education offered to the pre-primary pupils
- Create a innovative and creativity child centered learning environment for the children
- Enhance suitable teaching environment for the teachers
Deliverable: Refurbish the selected space with total redecoration, intensive repairs, furniture, mural design. and books reading corner for the toddlers. Orient teachers and community on maintainace, innovative and creative means of preparing more teaching and playful materials with the locally available materials Ensure timely deliverance of work
Time frame
The work will take a range of two months. two weeks community. teachers and pupils engagement in preparing teaching and playful learning materials using the local available materials. one month refurbishing the classes with furniture‘s and intensive class repair during the holiday season and two week completion and submission of the report.
Requirements for company/individual
- Evidence of relevant experience in the execution of related works of equivalent nature, including the nature and value of the relevant contracts for each of the last 3 years.
- The candidate profile requirement should include Artistic merit as evidenced in the visual material provided for previous projects;
- Demonstrated previous relevant experience of creating artworks in the public realm (and working within timelines and budgets).
- Strength of proposed artistic approach and methodology, innovation in response to the site and context.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and an ability to work in an environment where transparency, inclusively and information sharing is critical to the success of the project.
Forms and Condition
- A compulsory site Visit shall be conducted with the facilitation of Play and Learn Program Coordination
- The pre-primary classes refurbishment will take 2 months; Payment will be made In two installments 60% upfront upon signing of the agreement; and 40% upon completion of the construction and submission of the final report.
