Role Summary:

The Client Handling cum Transport Coordinator is responsible to assist the Transport Manager in the overseeing and maintenance of the company vehicles routes, driver orientation, driver evaluation and driver training. This role will work closely with the Company Operations Manager to ensure safe, effective, efficient and responsive service delivery to clients and staff of the company.

KEY RESULTS AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee transport functions by formulating a transportation program that takes into consideration the priorities, goals and budgetary constraints of the company.
  • Ensures work plan within the department by scheduling and supervising subordinate staff to follow all departmental transport charts and plan to help the company in providing efficient services to the customers.
  • To assist in managing transport vehicles stock taking including all transport department assets, recording and register of transport department fixed assets and to send periodic reports as it may be required by management from time to time.
  • To coordinate staff training to ensure the drivers are conversant with all the Country and local traffic regulations.
  • Oversee the daily logistics relating to transportation of goods/ and people from office to Lodges and camps.
  • While transporting goods or people always ensures that, the transportation systems used stick to the schedule, so that the cargo or people are delivered on time.
  • Responsible for maintaining departmental records, this includes keeping updated records concerning log books, routine maintenance, and oil expenditures as per Sop’s in-house governing the department.
  • To assist under supervision of the Transport HOD in drafting and updating records relating to company transport procedures and policies as well as government regulations as well as monitoring and maintaining staff records on licensing, driving, testing and training.
  • Support transport HOD solving any issues involving employee misconduct, late deliveries and customers’ complaints. The assistant transport officer must conduct a thorough investigation and come up with an ideal solution for the problem. He/she must also communicate with the relevant authorities to solve issues relating to accidents at the workplace or during transportation.
  • Ensure safety by regularly reminding drivers on safety, ensure that drivers are not endangering other road users by driving carelessly/ out to speed limit due to extended work shifts.
  •   Working closely to workshop/technical department,carry out routine maintenance inspections on the company equipment and vehicles, and facilitates any replacement and
  •   Act as contact person to all fuel and transport suppliers (ie staff bus, trucks etc) for the FTC Company.

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Company Policy Policies, Employee Code of Conduct and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Keeps abreast of National Park/ game reserve policies and all United Republic of Tanzania, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Be updated on Transport regulations ie: Transport licensing Act and Road Traffic Act.

PROFFESIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS

Education:

  • Diploma Preferably in fleet management or transport management.
  • Driving License, Automotive engineering skills.
  • Proven proficiency in computerized applications to Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, google work space)

Experience and Skills:

  • Working experience under transport department
  • Two Years (2+) years in related field
  • Effective Time Management and attentive to details.
