Role Summary:

Transport Manager is responsible for fleet management for the Company. One will have to oversee multiple fleets for a number of Companies at the base office in Arusha, through directing, planning, developing and leading the transport teams to ensure that all standards, projects and service level agreements are met and operating at maximum level of efficiency and profitability.

Transport Management;

  • Responsible for transport budgeting and operations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the transport department, coordinating the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and drivers to transport guests, goods and staff while considering Company’s priorities, goals and budget.
  •  Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained and timely serviced.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely and efficient movement of guests on safari.
  • Plan transport and safari schedules and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Work closely with your supporting team, apply and follow up on park/protected areas entrance fees and permits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards by developing, implementing and updating transport policies and procedures reflecting company vision as well as government regulations.
  • Ensures work plan within the department by scheduling and supervising subordinate staff to follow all departmental transport charts and plan to help the company in providing efficient services to the customers.
  • To coordinate staff training to ensure the drivers are conversant with all the Country and Company’s local traffic and safety regulations.
  • Work closely to Administration and Government liaison Manager to ensure vehicle insurance covers and yearly safety inspection covers are renewed and updated
  • Responsible for maintaining departmental records, prepare reports on transport operations and performance this includes keeping updated records concerning log books, routine maintenance, and oil expenditures as per Sop’s in-house governing the department.
  • Work with the People and Culture department solving any issues revolving around employee misconduct, late deliveries and customers’ complaints. Communicate with the relevant authorities to solve issues relating to accidents at the workplace or during transportation. ·   Working closely to workshop department, carry out routine maintenance inspections on the company equipment and vehicles, and facilitates any replacement and repair if deemed necessary ·  Support the company’s philosophy of operating in an ethical, eco-friendly and sustainable manner. Monitor all fabrication work and corrective maintenance activities at base office and in the field to ensure improvement on vehicle availability, reliability, safety, and functionality.
  • Act as contact person to all fuel and transport suppliers (ie staff bus, trucks etc) for the FTC Company.
  • Monitoring and maintaining staff records on licensing, driving, testing and training

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Company Policy Policies, Code of Business Conduct and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Keeps abreast of National Park/ game reserve policies and all United Republic of Tanzania, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Be updated on Transport regulations ie: Transport licensing Act and Road Traffic Act.
  • Liaise with Tanzania (SUMATRA) Surface and Marine Transport Authority on ongoing transportation regulations, policies and standards as they change from time to time.
  • Be part of Safety and compliance committee ensure all vehicle’s required registration ie: insurance, inspection etc are all available and updated.
  • To exercise reasonable care, skills and diligence in performing his duties for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Standards and Regulations, ensure availability of PPE to all staff.
  • Work closely and liaise with Regions’ Fire and Rescue Service, Road Safety and Traffic Department), OSHA Workplace and Garage Standards.

PROFFESIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS

Education:

  •  Degree/Diploma Preferably in fleet management or transport management
  •  Driving License, Automotive engineering skills
  •    Proven proficiency in computerized applications to Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, google work space)

Experience and Skills:

  • Working experience under transport department:
  •  Two Years (2+) years in related field
  •  Effective Time Management and attentive to details.
