Job Description

Our client Sopa Lodges is a registered Tanzanian Company under Companies Ordinance (Cap. 212) and a leading Hospitality Company with Operations in Tanzania with major operations in Arusha Town, Serengeti in Mara region, Manyara, Tarangire National Park Arusha and Manyara region, other hospitality destination Tanzania and Zanzibar Island. On behalf of their management we are currently hiring for the above position to be part of they’re team. The role will be based in Serengeti National park in Tanzania.

Position Title: House Keeping Manager

Reporting to:  Lodge Manager and General Manager

Supervises :   Laundry and Housekeeping Department

Duty station: Serengeti Explorer

Salary: Negotiable

Start: January, 2024

Position Summary:

Supervises all House keeping employees, plans and assigns work assignments, give training for newly recruited employees, auditand inspects housekeeping personal work assignment and requisition supplies. Take care of the budget and budget controlling for the department.

House Keeping Manager Duties And Responsibilities:

Supervises all housekeeping employees. Plans the work for the housekeeping department and distributes assignments accordingly. Assigns regular duties and special duties for the housekeeping staff. Schedule employees and assigns extra days off according to occupancy forecast. Assigns new employees to work with experienced help. Checks on the work of these employees occasionally and observes the report made by the supervisors. Approves all supply requisitions, such as those for spreads and bathroom rugs. Maintains a lost-and-found department and is responsible for all lost-and-found items. Determines the rightful owner and send correspondences.

Responsibility & Authority:

  • Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire lodge.
  • Ensure that rooms are made as per lodge standard.
  • Prepare Annual Housekeeping Budget.
  • Maintain par stock of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, linen and uniform.
  • Organize inventories with Lodge Controller and General Store for linen, uniform and etc.
  • Pay particular attention while organizing pest eradication activities.
  • Develop and implement Housekeeping systems and procedures
  • Prepare reports for management information.
  • Assist Purchase department in selecting suppliers for items related to Housekeeping.
  • Plan, control and supervise Horticultural activities.
  • Attending and resolving guest complaints.
  • Verification of supplies consignments.
  • Organize on-the job training and evaluate its effectiveness.
  • Approval of the Functional Manual of the department.
  • Recommend recruitment of new personnel.

Other Routine Responsibilities:

  • Daily inspection of public areas and employees station rooms.
  • Daily briefing of Supervisors/ Executives.
  • Coordinating the preventative maintenance schedule of rooms and a public area with the maintenance department.
  • Immediately attending to guests requests or needs.

Prerequisites:

Strong Leadership abilities and organizational skills, Entrepreneurial, thinks out of the box and Able to drive change and look for operational efficiencies/synergies across the network.

Education:

Diploma in Hotel Management or equivalent. Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc.

Experience:

Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience of which at least 3 to 5 years in a similar role. Strong Operational/Technical Knowledge. Successful Pre-opening experience & records a distinct advantage.
