Introduction

SOS Children’ s Villages Tanzania (SOS CV T2) is an independent nongovernmental social development organization affiliated to $05 Children’ s Villages International, working in the 3‘ spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Our mission is to build families for children in need and helping them shape their own futures. The work of SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania (SOS CV TZ) began in 1991 in Zanzibar, and later in spread to mainland to Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Mwanza regions. From Year 2017 the organization extended its programs to lringa and Mufindi districts

Our flagship services as child development organization includes Care, Education and Health to reach children who have lost parental care and those at-risk of losing parental care.

The overall purpose of the project is to improve the education opportunities for children under play and learn project in Chanika and Zingiziwa wards. This is attained through improving the learning environment and strengthening the quality of education in the target area. Also, the project aims at strengthening the MEMKWA programme to enable out of school children to access education. ,

Requirements

Play is a neglected and essential component for kids, it is linked with health, creativity and innovation. Tanzania is an environmental awareness art platform that goes beyond activism to create positive social change within communities by turning waste (garbage) into useful things. These materials such as plastics and tires are harmful to nature and do not decompose. We can transform them into things as playgrounds for the children who live in slums and do not have access to playgrounds.

SOS Children’s Village Dar Es Salaam through Play and Learn program is looking for national. individual company/ consultants who will build recycled playground and engage children in creative thinking and problem solving where they will design and make their own playgrounds for the establishment of playground using waste and locally available material at Vikongoro Primary school in Chanika ward, llala Dar es Salaam.

General Objective

The general objective is to ensure that Children‘s have opportunities to play and creativity are enhanced in Chanika Ward through more child-friendly playgrounds.

Specific objectives:

Specifically, Playgrounds establishment aimed to

Ensure children and community engagement in the process for sustainability and ownership as well as to adopt the technology that will support on creativity and establishment of

playgrounds. Enable schools to have playgrounds that will cater for various Plays in schools in Chanika ward.

Deliverables

  • Establishment of quality/best playground.
  • Ensure the community have acquired skills that will support in establishment of other playgrounds
  • Ensure timely deliverance of work

Timeframe

The work will take a range of three months from day the tender is officially announced to begin the offer.

Requirements for company/individual

  • Evidence of relevant experience in the execution of related works of equivalent nature including the nature and value of the relevant contracts for each of the last 3 years.
  • The candidate profile requirement should include Artistic merit as evidenced in the visual material provided for previous projects;
  • Demonstrated previous relevant experience of creating artworks (including playground) the public realm (and working within timelines and budgets).
  • Strength of proposed artistic approach and methodology, innovation in response to the site and context.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and an ability to work in an environment where transparency. inclusively and information sharing is critical to the success of the ,project.

Terms and Conditions

  • A compulsory site visit shall be conducted with the facilitation of Play and Learn Program Coordinator.
  • Bidders will arrange their own transportation to the sites to be visited
  • The construction will take 3 months; Payment will be made in two installments 60% upfront upon signing of the agreement; and 40% upon completion of the construction and submission of the final report.
